Buy now pay later options
We offer 2 of the most popular, Klarna & ClearPay. These are extremely popular for online purchases. Each provider works slightly differently regarding how much you can spend and what your payments are. As responsible retailers we would just like to make sure that you don't get into any financial difficulty when you choose that payment option.

Since our last blog post, a lot has happened so we jast wanted to fill you in with the latest news. Firstly we have closed our shop and moved to online only. This was a tough decision to make but unfortunately since reopening after the covid restrictions, the footfall in the town centre was not the same. This coupled with car park closures and other mismanagement issues in our shopping centre left us with no choice but to make the move online only.
Learn moreCOVID-19. Our story
What a strange few months it has been. No one could have predicted how Covid-19 has shaped our world. We have been extremely fortunate that all of us and our staff have remained free from the virus but our thoughts go out to those families that have not been so fortunate. We found ourselves in a very strange situation in March where we had shut down before the government officially ordered the lockdown. We did this to protect our staff and customers. Little did we know how long it would last. Fortunately for us, we were able to continue the website from home and both myself and Jane worked every day to keep things running as smoothly as we could. We were able to get stock delivered, put on the website and sent out by courier. We were very surprised how busy we were. In fact we were just as busy as if the shop was open. We continued with our usual Wednesday night Facebook lives from our front room and even gave away some vouchers on our quiz night. At the end of April we were starting to worry that stock would start to be an issue. Most of our items come from Italy and as you know, back then, Italy was the epicentre of the outbreak and all the factories were closed. Luckily most of our wholesalers had had the foresight and ordered plenty of stock. We were able to continue like this until the shop was allowed to reopen on the 15th June. We decided to completely redecorate the shop, put new window graphics up, change the signs as well as put in the new social distance guidelines in ready to welcome you all back. Again we were surprised how busy our first week back was and everyone that came in said how nice it was to see us and to get out and about. We have continued to stay busy up to now both in store and on the website and it has made us realise that even in this challenging retail environment, people do still like to go into shops and see the items alongside buying online and as long as that continues, we will continue to keep the shop open. We would like to thank each and every one of you for your continued support during these difficult times. We really appreciate it. Ian & Jane x
Learn moreBlack Friday....Some deals aren't as good as they seem
With Black Friday upon us. We have offered a 20% discount across the board (except gift cards and shipping) which I think most will agree is a good deal. We feel that getting a discount on these days should be a genuine one. Unfortunately it seems that a lot of bigger retailers are manipulating the prices to give the illusion of a Black Friday discount. Which? research also found that 95 per cent of products in Black Friday ‘deals’ are cheaper or the same price after the sales. And 61 per cent are cheaper before Black Friday. In 2017, 49 per cent of products were found to be cheaper before or after Black Friday (credit msn news). So please be careful when selecting your Black Friday deals. Do your research. Check the small print and be realistic. If a product has been lowered from £20 to £1 and is now out of stock, then the deal probably never existed in the first place, its a way to get you in. Have a good weekend and take advantage of some GENUINE bargains on our website
Learn moreWaste, Recycling & Packaging
With the plight of waste, plastic and recycling in the forefront of everybodys mind. We thought we would let you know what we are trying to do at Jane's Boutique to offset as much as possible and to do our bit to help. The fashion industry is notoriously bad at creating needless waste we try wherever possible to recycle and reuse. When items come from the wholesaler there immediately 2 noticeable issues. The items either come on plastic hangers or in sealed plastic bags. We have approximately 300 plastic hangers per week. Believe it or not our local recycling centre does not accept these. A couple of years ago I got together around 2000 hangers, loaded them into my car and took them to the recycling centre, only to be told to "put them in the general waste". So I brought them back and went round to the local charity shops to give them for free. For around a year this worked well. The charity shops were using them for themselves or bundling up the better ones and selling them. We were then told that the hangers were no longer needed so what do we do with them now? A lot of our customers in the shop take a majority each week for themselves & we do send out a box full to another customer. All we ask is to pay the postage of £6 so let us know if you would like some. Its a shame there isnt some way to send back to the wholesaler or manufacturer but they simply arent interested. The plastic bags are a similar problem. We try wherever possible to reuse them in packaging to either put the clothes in for protection or to use to bulk out parcels. Again we tried to recycle but are told to put in general waste. We use DPD courier for all of our deliveries. All plastic bags are fully recyclable. Boxes are much easier to reuse. We literally recycle every box by using as packaging for our online orders. We even go around to other small and large businesses in our shopping centre to reuse their boxes as well. So if you have a delivery from us with Gillette Shaving Gel written on the side, you know we have reused the box. We also try to reduce our energy by changing our old flourescent lights to eco friendly LED ones. Its hard as we are one small shop in vast wasteful fashion business but we are trying to do our best!
Learn moreWho Are We? How Did We Start?
Jane's Boutique is a small family run independent fashion boutique. We are a husband and wife team, Jane & Ian with Katie, Stacey & Trish that help on a part time basis. Jane has been selling clothes for many years and started at the big London markets in the 90's. Ian comes from a signmaking background of nearly 30 years. We also had an ice cream van and Jane would be out in the van in the summer & in the winter sell clothes from home. This carried on for a few years & we had gained a lot of customers who would pick items up from the house or we would deliver locally. After being made redundant in January 2016, Ian was delivering locally to one of our customers and the small shop next door was empty so we phoned the managing agents up & in just over an hour we were stood in the shop & decided that we would give it a go. We opened in April 2016 and we were really surprised how quickly we became established. We very soon became the shop that people would come to for their clothes with a difference. We stayed in the shop for just over a year but it became obvious that we had outgrown the premises and decided to move into a much larger (almost 7 times larger), more central town location where we are currently. We have evolved over the last 3 1/2 years. We used to sell bling homeware and children's clothes but we now concentrate on ladies clothing from sizes 6-26. In February 2018, we started our weekly Facebook Live in our Facebook Group, every Wednesday at 7pm where we showcase all of our new stock. We always do this whilst having fun at the same time so join us if you can! We introduced our website back in late 2016 but the system we were sold did not live up to expectations and we struggled to ensure that we could fulfill online orders and so we had to rethink how we offer online to link in with our shop. In April 2019, we moved over to a new till and website system that has taken us to the next level. We now have a simple, easy to use website with plenty of functionality to make your experience the best it can be. We never rest and are always looking for new ways to improve and offer the very best quality clothing at reasonable prices. Thank you to everyone that has supported us over the years. Many of the customers that used to buy from us at home are still our customers today. We appreciate each and every one of you. Jane, Ian and the rest of Jane's Boutique x
